WWII Imperial Japanese Army Soldier Photos & Censored Mail Envelopes – Named, Pre-1943 Tokyo
This listing is for 2 small original WWII-era Japanese military correspondence lot, consisting of two original black-and-white photographs of Imperial Japanese Army soldiers and two original addressed photos that once contained them.
The photos feature pre-1943 Japanese addresses, including Tokyo Prefecture (東京府), Setagaya Ward, Tamagawa Town, and Kita-Sōma District, Fusa Town (Chiba Prefecture). Both bear military mail censorship markings (検閲), confirming wartime handling.
One photo identifies the sender as Watanabe Kinsaburō, making this a named, personal correspondence, not anonymous ephemera. The recipients appear to be family or close relations in Tokyo and Chiba.
The photographs depict Imperial Japanese Army soldiers in field uniforms, likely late 1930s to early WWII, taken outdoors and consistent with personal service photos mailed home.
